I lived in a haunted stud...What a nice tale, Jane.
I lived in a haunted student house once. Plenty of odd goings on (not of student origin). Once, a group of us returning late at night saw a man run up the steps and into the house. All the lights were on. We searched for the intruder, but nothing. Then the bathroom door got locked on the inside with the key still in it (what larks that caused!), all the pans fell off a shelf in the kitchen, the radio would be turned up to full volume with nobody in the room, the electrics fused (and the electrician told the landlord, 'those students have really been mucking about with the electricity - this couldn't happen on its own' - but we hadn't touched anything). There were some frightening sightings of a ginger-haired man with bad teeth and none of us wanted to be in the house alone; there was even one night when all nine of us slept in the same room because we were so frightened. We held a seance and scared ourselves witless; this wasn't a happy ghost.
Then one boy moved out over the Christmas holidays. When we met up with him in January, he asked if we'd had any more strange encounters. No, we hadn't, and the house felt different, too. Then he told us that he'd come back alone over Christmas and 'exorcised' the place. When he'd finished, he heard a loud bang upstairs and the ghost was gone. I hope he found peace.
Your friendly ghost sounds comforting. Lovely that you cohabited so peacefully.Whiskshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17511717013005006342noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2370102972842121026.post-58599314993849042172012-11-03T09:07:42.252+00:002012-11-03T09:07:42.252+00:00Thanks, Gerry. Reminds me somewhat of a book by Helen Greaves, 'The Wheel of Eternity' where she has, as the Amazon page puts it, 'two earth-bound souls "living" beside her in her country cottage, imprisoned by their own ignorance and selfishness'

Actually I don't remember them being all that negative - just limited but affable.

Anyway, you probably know the book?GerryFengehttp://gerryfenge.com/noreply@blogger.com
